Real-Life MDA
For the last couple of years, I've been running a program called MDA FastStart, hosted by the OMG. MDA FastStart is a group of 30+ professional services companies specializing in MDA, and they all done some very interesting real-life MDA projects. Some of these have been written up and are on the OMG website, and I've published stories about a few others in Software Magazine.
I'm happy to announce that this fall, Morgan/Kaufman will publish an entire book of detailed MDA case studies called "Real Life MDA", authored by myself and John Parodi. Those case studies include a global auto manufacturer, a global telecom software vendor, a major US federal government department, a major US state government agency, an EU national health agency, an international hospital services company, and an international property development company.
John and I really enjoyed researching and writing this book. It was both fun and informative to interview both business and IT people applying MDA in a wide variety of ways. We've tried to organize the book so that each case study stands on its own, but you can also compare the approaches. As soon as this book is available, I'll post an update on this site.
In the meantime, our quest for more case studies goes on, as we'd like to publish a new set in another book. If you are either a consultant or an enduser who has an interesting story to tell about applying MDA to deliver an important business solution, we'd like to hear from you. Stories about how MDA was used to enable BPM and SOA would be particularly welcome. Just post a comment on the blog with your contact information, and we'll get in touch with you ASAP.

Soluta.net has made a contribution to the book with a success story in the facility management.
We are now in another MDA project, this time in the aeronautical radio communications sector. MDA is used for generating C and C++ code for complex ground radio stations used for communicating with airliners. This might indeed be another case study for the forhcoming book. The case will be described in the MDA Forum in Venice (http://mdaforum.soluta.net/en/)
MDA is demonstrating the ability to scale down from EPR to embedded systems.
